It is so important to introduce a variety of flavors to your baby since at this early age baby is more receptive to new foods and taste. Babies frankly get bored with the standard repertoire of carrot, sweet potato, peas, squash , banana and apple, tickle their senses, take your baby on a gastronomic tour around the world and they will love you for it. There are a million different fruits, grains and vegetables out there and you shouldn’t limit your baby.
At Yummy Spoonfuls™ we currently have 25 different meals for those parents who are time constraint. We went around the world looking for tantalizing meals to tickle baby’s palate while nourishing them with the very best, we use Millet (Ragi), quinoa, adzuki bean, papaya, mango, our basmati brown rice medley (picture attached) is a childhood favorite known at home as jellof rice (home is Nigeria & Cameroon) to name a few (visit us for a complete list of our award winning food visit our website
Here is a quick recipe to zest things up a bit, made this to my son when he was about 9 months old on Italian night (yes we toured the world with his palate and today there is really nothing he won’t eat)
Squash N Italy (from scratch)
4 cups organic butternut squash (peeled & cubed) or use 2 Yummy Spoonfuls cups of our creamy yummy organic squash
4 tablespoon organic alphabet pasta (soup pasta)
2 tablespoon cold pressed organic olive oil
1 teaspoon finely chopped organic basil (leaves only)
- Cook squash (we use a steaming basket) until tender, puree in a blender and set aside.
- Cook pasta following directions- drain
- In a sauté pan heat oil, add basil and gently cook for about a minute, add pasta and squash and voilà! a tasty meal for your baby with NO ADDED FLOUR.
